Walk with Head High

God’s Justice Prevails

God sees the schemes of the wicked, their plans laid bare,
Condemning those who exploit, who take without care.
Injustice will not stand, for His judgment is true,
He holds us accountable for all that we do.

Let us act with justice, compassion in our hearts,
Avoiding greed and exploitation, playing our parts.
For those who commit wrongs will face His mighty hand,
The consequences of actions, like grains of sand.

Treat others with fairness, stand against the wrong,
Live righteously, knowing His justice is strong.
God values righteousness, integrity in our ways,
Mindful of our actions, intentions in our days.

Show empathy, compassion to those in need,
To the oppressed, the marginalized, let us heed.
Align our lives with His will, advocate for the weak,
Support the suffering, His guidance we seek.

God is in control, His justice will come,
Even in the face of injustice, we trust in the One.
Restoration and justice, in His time, will unfold,
Trust in His plan, His timing, be bold.

Reflect His love, His righteousness in all we do,
For God’s justice prevails, His promises are true.

REFLECTION:

Therefore thus says the Lord: "Behold, I am planning against this race an evil from which you shall not withdraw your necks; nor shall you walk with head high, for it will be a time of evil." (Micah 2:3)

Those who commit injustices will face God’s judgment. God sees all our actions and will hold everyone accountable. The consequences of our actions will surely come back upon us. Let us treat others fairly, stand against injustice, and live righteously, knowing that God’s justice will prevail.

God values righteousness and integrity. We should always be mindful of our actions and intentions, showing empathy and compassion to those in need and those who are oppressed and marginalized. Let us seek to align our life with God’s will, advocating for the vulnerable and supporting those who are suffering.

God is in control and will bring about justice in His time. Even when faced with injustice, we should always have faith that God will ultimately restore and bring about His justice. Let us trust in God’s plan and His timing in all aspects of our lives and to act in ways that reflect His love and righteousness.

SOCIAL EVILS
Micah 2:1-5

First Reading | Micah 2:1-5

1 Woe to those who plan iniquity, and work out evil on their couches; In the morning light they accomplish it when it lies within their power. 2 They covet fields, and seize them; houses, and they take them; They cheat an owner of his house, a man of his inheritance. 3 Therefore thus says the Lord: Behold, I am planning against this race an evil from which you shall not withdraw your necks; nor shall you walk with head high, for it will be a time of evil. 4 On that day a satire shall be sung over you, and there shall be a plaintive chant: “Our ruin is complete, our fields are portioned out among our captors, the fields of my people are measured out, and no one can get them back!” 5 Thus you shall have no one to mark out boundaries by lot in the assembly of the Lord.

Background:

Micah 2:1-5 is part of the prophet Micah’s message of judgment against the people of Judah. Here’s some background to help you understand this passage better:

Historical Context

Micah prophesied during the reigns of Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, around 750-687 BC. This was a time of significant social and political upheaval, with the Assyrian Empire posing a constant threat.

Key Themes in Micah 2:1-5

Condemnation of Injustice: Micah condemns the wealthy and powerful who devise schemes to seize land and property from the poor. This reflects a broader theme in Micah’s prophecies, where he denounces social injustices and the exploitation of the vulnerable.

Divine Judgment: The passage warns that those who commit such injustices will face God’s judgment. Their ill-gotten gains will be taken away, and they will experience the same suffering they inflicted on others.

Moral Accountability: Micah emphasizes that God sees the actions of the wicked and will hold them accountable. This serves as a reminder of the importance of living righteously and justly.

Broader Message of Micah

Micah’s overall message combines themes of judgment and hope. While he warns of impending judgment due to the people’s sins, he also speaks of a future restoration and the coming of a Shepherd-King who will gather and protect a faithful remnant.

This passage, like much of Micah’s prophecy, calls for faithfulness, obedience, and trust in God’s justice and compassion. It serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of living in accordance with God’s will and seeking His guidance in all aspects of life.
